Perkins Hall, Gowanda, NYSTEL, Inc. provides 24-hour support to residents living in a community residence.  The homes are located in Dunkirk, Jamestown, Gowanda, Olean, and Wellsville.  The community residences are both rehabilitative and transitional in nature.  Our goal is to provide secure, safe, and healthy living environments for our residents and to facilitate their successful reintegration into the community at a pace commensurate with their levels of functioning.  Working with other services providers, we seek to develop life management skills that will insure stabilization and upward movement through progressive levels of independence.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Have a Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) that meets the criteria for a DSM-IV psychiatric diagnosis. 
  • Eighteen (18) years of age or older.
  • IQ of 70 or above.
  • Ability to care for their personal hygiene with minimal physical assistance and independently maintain assistive devises/garments for the care of incontinence.
  • Ability to be ambulatory with the use of assistive devises (i.e. canes, reachers, walkers, wheelchairs), be free from major medical problems, and medically stable.
