Jamestown Area Medical Associates (JAMA) has contributed $1,000 to the Compeer for Youth Program. In presenting the donation, JAMA executive director Kevin Saff explained that the group’s board of directors was impressed with the work of Compeer and thought that the gift would be very beneficial as the youth program continues to grow. JAMA, a multi-specialty physician group practice based in Jamestown, makes charitable contributions to approximately 15 organizations per year. Since the Compeer for Youth Program is unfunded, it is dependent on contributions from the community. “This donation will help in our efforts to provide youth –specific activities for our participants,” said Compeer director Jann Ball. She added, “We are pleased about the increase in community awareness of the role Compeer mentors play in a child’s mental health.” Compeer Chautauqua’s youth program matches trained, compassionate and caring volunteers who offer friendship and a positive role model to youth ages 5 to 17 referred to the program by mental health and school professionals.
