2005 Spring Fling

Jun 03, 2005

For Immediate Release June 3, 2005

Over 100 Southern Tier Environments for Living staff members and residents enjoyed the recent Spring Fling dinner dance at the Frank Acquavia Memorial Post in Dunkirk.

Each year, the staff organizes this event to honor STEL residents during National Mental Health Month. Featured on the menu as hors d’oeuvres were shrimp, sweet and sour meatballs, bacon appetizers, and ham rollups. Among the items on the buffet were fresh fruit with dip, baked macaroni, pizza, and petite sandwiches. Lori Karalus, manager of STEL’s Jamestown Apartment Program, baked a beautifully-decorated cake for the occasion. Sheila Horch, manager of STEL’s Dunkirk Apartment Program, chaired the event, and was assisted by staff members Jen Dankert, Eileen Dunn and Paula Barron. Many other staff members assisted with serving. KS Entertainment provided the music. The residents also enjoyed rides around the lake, provided by Adventure Limousine. Donated prizes were STEL Spring Fling raffled off and potted flowers were given to everyone, courtesy of M & R and Loyal Oaks Greenhouses. Other businesses that made donations included Burger King, Fredonia Opera House, Garden Gate Florist, McDonald’s Restaurant, Paper Factory, Pizza Village and Wendy’s Restaurant. The Frank Acquavia Post donated the space and soft drinks. A cash donation was made by Fredonia Animal Hospital. STEL offers residential and rehabilitation services to individuals with psychiatric disabilities in Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, and southern Erie Counties.
